Yeah - you're totally right, and hopefully it'll free me up to do some bigger and better things!! The one good thing about the regular gig, is that you get regular practice and when bigger things come your way, you'll feel more confident. And also, you're more motivated to download new tracks, but as it was a lot of stuff I wouldn't have bought anyway, that's no big loss! Let me know what you think of the mix if you get a chance to have a listen. I didn't do anything fancy with the mixing on this one, just focussed more on picking lush tunes. Gonna try and do another this week I think. Enjoy your Sunday!! xx
Hey there, thanks for adding me..

I know, when i'm not in panic, over thinking mode, that i will be fine...and i know that i'll pick a tune or two i know people will know, and have tracks in my head that i think would sound amazing in a club..and once i get going, hopefully, it will all fall into place...tracks will come to me as i'm playing, and hopefully on how the crowd are reacting..i bloody hope it's a crowd anyway haha
know i will not be able to stop smiling like a cheshire cat, and you will visbly be able to see how much fun i am having, and how happy i am to be there..so once my nerves settle...i'm praying that i have the skills..if not technically perfect..but the knowledge to make it a good set ;0)
to be quite honest..that's the bit i'm worrying about. I have till Feb, but our Aural Pleasure night, i really want it to be a shit hot night. I know that this night will have true music fans, but also your average joes who wont have a clue about music, and will want some commercial shit. Now i'm trying to advertise it so people know what they're coming to before they get here, because i'll play tracks that music fans will know, but i will not be playing any commercial garbage.
I just can't stop going through what time would be best to play..and what style's to kinda go for..a doing a mix to listen to at home, and then a mix in a club are two totally different things..you can be so experimental at home, and knowing people will be at home listening to that mix..but not out.
So haha, i have till Feb..but still i'm worried that i don't know what time would be best, and exactly what style/styles i'll be best off playing lol.....hopefully when i'm there...once i get over the 1st nerves for a few mixes, it will just come naturally, and i can do as you said, enjoy it..rather than worry bout it ;0)
I'll check out that site when i get a mo....have a wicked one dude x ;0)
forward to hearing your new one...tell me about it..the old days were rather messy lol
Thanks for having a listen again dude....this last mix i did on Thursday, is completely different...having been clubbing since 93/94, then finding Cream in 95/96 i have seen so many DJ's and been influenced by so many styles...i really have an eclectic taste in music. Depending on my mood usually lol.
But, i know you said so many styles can be confusing, but i don't see it that way..unless i threw them all in together and just played them randomly. I see it as trying to think outside the box, and not stick to any "genre" rules ;0)
You see, genre's really are created by the media, when covering what's going on where ect, so we all get this preconception of what each "genre" should sound like. Now this to me, being obsessed with music, i find it completely stifling. I find that mixing, your mix sometimes tends to evolve, and take it's own journey...and sometimes it's not good enough to just play the one "genre". Giving yourself options to play things that sound amazing..no matter what genre they are supposed to be, can only mean more opportunity to be creative, and more avenues to go down when looking to play out, or attract new fan bases.
Genre=rules=boring i loooove breaking rules haha
If i were solely to play Prog house, then i would only appeal to Prog house lovers...but that's not just it...i just adore music, and if it sounds fooking amazing..i want it , and want to play it...so providing it goes with what i'm already playing, and if i had an audience that i think would like it, then i play it ;0)
Jees...waffling away with myself there lol....basically, rules are made to be broken, things are more fun that way...and i just mix whatever it is i'm feeling at the one moment in time..which i will never ever feel the exact same thing when mixing again..thats what makes it fun ;0) haha
I'll let you know when my next proggy one is uploaded.. haha ;0)
